Impact Africa Consulting Becomes GRI Certified Training Partner for Africa

NAIROBI, Kenya- Impact Africa Consulting Ltd (IACL), a leading consultancy firm in Africa specializing in sustainability and corporate responsibility, has partnered with the Global Reporting Initiative to become a GRI Certified Training Partner in the Africa region, writes Winston Mwale. “This partnership reinforces our commitment to fostering sustainable development across Africa,” said Dr. Edward Mungai, lead consultant and partner at IACL.

IACL will now conduct training for the GRI certification program throughout the continent, the organizations announced in a joint statement Thursday.

The GRI Professional Certification Program is the only one of its kind offered by the Global Reporting Initiative, an international organization that promotes sustainability reporting and disclosure.

By offering this program, IACL is poised to play a pivotal role in advancing sustainability practices within Africa.

Corporate institutions and practitioners across Africa now stand to gain with IACL set to launch its first cohort virtually Feb. 12-16, 2024.

The program empowers organizations to comprehensively address sustainability challenges, align with international best practices and drive positive impacts, according to Charles Mwesige, acting environmental specialist at UNOC, who recently completed the training.

“I can confidently say it exceeded my expectations,” said Hanna Mwatukange, founder of Agona Impact Investment, who was previously GRI certified.

This partnership underscores the African perspective on sustainability, acknowledging unique challenges and opportunities faced by diverse countries within the continent.

IACL and GRI are committed to tailoring their efforts to address the specific needs of African businesses and practitioners.

“Sustainability is not just a choice but a necessity for long-term success,” Mungai said.
